Medical Director – Psychiatric Emergency Services-West Reading, PA
Reading Hospital, part of Tower Health, a leading regional health system located in West Reading, PA and recipient of numerous awards including U.S. News top 5% ranking of all hospitals in the United States, is seeking a MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY SERVICES (PES)to help care for a population of more than 400,000 with comprehensive services and technology.
The Psychiatrist will provide treatment in a collaborative team (Physician Assistant, Nurses, and Social Workers) for patients who are admitted to the Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit
Directly oversee the operations of the Reading Hospital PESfrom the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Provide additional support as needed off hours, weekends and holidays
Direct the psychiatric care of all patients within the PES unit (10 bed unit within the ED), the Psychiatric Observation Unit (6 bed unit on D2) as well as those patients within the main ED that have psychiatric needs
Lead PES staff rounds starting at 8:00am Monday-Friday to review the current needs of all PES, D2 and ED psychiatric as well as their disposition status, bed status, anticipated discharges, anticipated referrals out of the Reading Health System and expected ED arrivals
Directly oversee consultation coverage for all patients requiring psychiatric care on the Reading Hospital Medical Observation Units
Teaching Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine Residents
Additional duties to be discussed when we speak
Call split amongst the Psychiatrics in the Department affording excellent quality of life
