Overview Seniors 55+ Mental Health Inpatient Unit 16 bed capacity Average Length of Stay ~ 7-10 days (fluctuates due to individual placement needs) Team consists of Medical Director, Attending Psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner, Nursing staff includes Nurse Manager, RNs, Psych Associate, Senior Psych Associates, 2 CTCs (social workers), Occupational Therapist, Spiritual Care Specialist. Other specialties utilized based upon individual patient needs. Unit 3B admissions to the unit are generally persons who are 55 years of age and older having a mental health diagnosis meeting the need for inpatient hospitalization. Our patients here are working on their mental health while still having the ability to fully participate in therapeutic programming. Patients that require extensive medical cares, the use of external equipment, those that have a primary diagnosis of chemical abuse, or exhibit severe aggression, or are intellectually and developmentally impaired, or having a diagnosis of dementia or delirium that renders them unable to participate and benefit from therapeutic groups and education are not appropriate admissions to this unit and would be provided other recommendations for other services or facilities. Unit 3B has a variety of caregivers many nurses with over 30 years of experience working with this population and newer staff that bring a renewed freshness to our groups and milieu. Everyone on the Seniors unit love what they do and enjoy educating new staff to this highly rewarding unit! The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. Physical Demands:Sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, push/pull, stooping/crouching, finger dexterity, speaking,hearing and visual. Mental Demands:Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decisions making skills, concentration, ability to work independently, multitasking, organizations skills, working with others. Physical Environment:Noise, infectious disease, moving machinery, fumes/gases, human tissue/fluids, radiation, telephone usage, chemicals, biohazard material and work inside. Required Qualifications
