Overview The ECT PACU RN is primarily responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of post-anesthesia nursing care for all assigned patients undergoing ECT (Electroconvulsive therapy) treatment. The ECT PACU RN may also rotate to the Main PACU to provide perianesthesia care for patients in the Main Operating Rooms if not needed to provide care in their primary department. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Responsibilities/Job Description - Primary responsibility is providing care to patients from culturally diverse populations who are undergoing procedures in the ECT Department.
- Secondary responsibility is providing recovery care in the Main PACU to patients from culturally diverse populations who are undergoing a variety of surgical procedures in the Main OR.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
- Implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care.
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Documents interventions according to practice guidelines.
- Responds to emergent situations.
- Coordinates nursing care and communicates effectively with all other members of the health care team.
- Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on needs, condition, potential for risk/harm, complexity of the skill and predictability of the outcome.

Physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting-max 35lbs, push/pull-max. 35 lbs, balance, stooping/crouching, grasping, writing, finger dexterity/keyboarding, reaching, color vision, operate machinery, physical presence at work. Mental Demands: Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, supervisory skills, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decision making skills, concentration, ability to work independent, multiple concurrent tasks, frequent deadlines, organizational skills, ability to collaborate with others, express ideas orally, remember and apply information, understand/follow basic instructions. The ECT PACU RN will cross-train to the Main PACU. In order to maintain Phase 1 recovery care competency, the RN will work a minimum of two full-day shifts each month in the Main PACU as well as when not needed to provide care in the ECT department Qualifications Required Qualifications: - MN RN License.
- BSN required.
- A minimum of two years current RN experience in Adult PACU, AdultICU orIMC is required. Hospital-based PACU experience preferred.
- BLS, ACLS certification required.
- Certification in a related specialty is highly desired
