This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Major duties of the Psychologist - Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) include, but are not limited to: Conducts functional assessments, based on 30-minute appointments and will triage/refer to specialty care services as appropriate. Applies principles of measurement-based and population-based care (defines role and identifies problems rapidly) using brief assessments routinely (e.g., PHQ-9, PCL, AUDIT-C, etc). Provides time-limited, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and psychoeducational groups. Independently provides behavioral medicine interventions for mild to moderate mental health diagnoses including, but not limited to, tobacco cessation, alcohol misuse, weight management, and coping with chronic illness. Stress management, sleep hygiene, relaxation training, and other interventions will be provided as clinically appropriate, based on patient need. Provides consultation to professional staff within the Sioux Falls VA and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. A portion of the incumbent's time can be devoted to gathering, managing, and assessing data to ensure that the quality of care is high and is constantly improved. A portion of the Psychologist's time is devoted to supervision of psychology interns and students in their various practicum assignments and research activities. A portion of the Psychologist's time may be devoted to the clinical instruction of University of South Dakota School of Medicine medical students and psychiatric residents during classroom and clinical training with the medical school and during rotations at this hospital.
